Visitor Information

In order to maintain our patients’ security, safety and comfort, we ask all visitors to follow these guidelines:

• Obtain a visitor’s pass at the Information Desk. Visitor passes are valid only for the date and area displayed and must be worn at all times while inside the hospital. Please return your visitor’s pass to the Information Desk when leaving the facility.
• Check with the patient’s nurse for special restrictions.
• Keep noise to a minimum, to avoid disrupting other patients.
• Live flowers or plants are not allowed, however, silk arrangements are acceptable.
• Kindred Hospital Milwaukee is a smoke-free campus.  Smoking is not allowed anywhere in our building or on our grounds.  
  
• Kindred Hospital Milwaukee does have a pet visitation policy.  Please discuss with your case manager or nurse.

Visiting Hours

General visiting hours for Kindred Hospital Milwaukee are 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Flexibility in hours may be warranted in some cases, but must be discussed with a nursing supervisor.

Please limit the number of visitors to no more than two at a time in the patient room. Visitors may be asked to wait outside the patient’s room while care is being provided.

Visiting with Children

Children under the age of five (5) are not permitted on the units, however they are welcome to wait in common or family waiting areas. An adult must accompany children under the age of twelve (12) into patient rooms. Children must be supervised at all times in order to ensure their safety and the safety of our patients.  If you wish that an exception be made, please check with the nursing supervisor. Adults should ensure that children also adhere to all infection control guidelines.

Infectious Disease Management

We ask that all visitors observe general hygiene practices when entering and leaving patient rooms. This includes disinfecting hands using the sanitizer dispensers conveniently placed around the hospital.

For visitors of patients who are under special infectious disease management precautions or isolation, please refer to the isolation signs, check with the patient’s nurse, and make sure you understand and cooperate with the required precautions.  

Please refrain from visiting if you have a cough, runny nose and/or congestion, sore throat, body aches, unusual weakness or tiredness, fever, rash, open sores, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or exposure to any communicable diseases such as chicken pox, measles or mumps.

Kindred Milwaukee Café

The hospital café is located on the first floor and is open to all visitors, employees and guests. Lunch is served seven days a week from noon to 2 p.m. Vending machines and complimentary beverages are available throughout the day.

Parking

Free parking is available at our hospital.

Family Concerns

Family members may request a meeting with clinical staff to discuss their loved one’s current condition and progress and to get their questions answered. These patient care conferences may be scheduled by contacting Case Management.

Post-Hospital Care

Once a physician determines that your loved one no longer requires the specialized services of our hospital, they will work with case management and nursing staff to create a plan for discharge. Case management staff will assist in coordinating any medical service needs or transfer upon discharge.
